Hyliko, the leader in zero-emission mobility for road haulage, presented the latest advances in its ‘full service’ offering at the Hyvolution trade fair, a major hydrogen event in France from 30 January to 1 February 2024 in Paris. The company highlighted its progress in the first hydrogen supplies for its retrofit hydrogen trucks, as well as its strategic partnerships. Hydrogen validation tests under way for the retrofitted hydrogen HGV The 26-tonne carrier retrofitted by the zero-emission full-service heavy mobility platform is making good progress, as it is now running on hydrogen following the commissioning of the powertrain designed with its partner GreenGT and based on two Toyota fuel cells. The truck is now being tested in real-life conditions. A number of transport company drivers have had the opportunity to drive it on a closed track to gather feedback and improve the driving experience. These contributions to vehicle development should enable the vehicle to be presented for certification testing in the first quarter of 2024. Successful first hydrogen refuelling at a Hympulsion network station, Hyliko’s partner in providing roaming refuelling for hauliers At the Solutrans trade fair last November, Hyliko presented its partnership with Hympulsion, the No. 1 operator of the hydrogen refuelling network in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Under the agreement, any haulier subscribing to Hyliko’s full service offer will be able to roam hydrogen refuelling at Hympulsion network stations in the region. The very first refuelling with green hydrogen at a fixed Hympulsion network station in Saint-Priest near Lyon was carried out by the Hyliko carrier in January 2024. At this station, the refuelling operation was carried out successfully with the help of Hympulsion and its partners [ENGIE and HRS]: the tank with a nominal capacity of 41kg, enabling the vehicle to achieve a range of 460km*, was filled with green hydrogen in around twenty minutes. This first refuelling is part of the verification of the interoperability conditions between the Hyliko vehicles and the partner hydrogen refuelling stations. Under the name ‘Hyliko Extended’, Hyliko aims to offer hauliers the widest coverage of hydrogen refuelling in France by ensuring that hauliers can roam between the hydrogen ecosystems supported by Hyliko and partner ecosystems such as Hympulsion. This first refuelling with hydrogen at a fixed station will pave the way for the vehicle’s certification, scheduled for the first half of 2024. Subject to successful certification and approval, Hyliko plans to deliver its first retrofit hydrogen HGVs in the second quarter of 2024. *At the moment, the pressure is 350 bars, with greater autonomy to come thanks to further developments expected in 2026.
